Dr. Rachael Goodman-Williams is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Justice, Law & Criminology at American University. Her research focuses on how communities develop and implement survivor-centered responses to sexual assault. Her current research explores the experiences of survivors who have forensic evidence collected in the aftermath of sexual assault but do not report the assault to police at that time.
Prior to her research career, Dr. Goodman-Williams was a gender-based violence prevention educator and crisis response coordinator for domestic violence and sexual assault response centers in the pacific northwest. She is committed to community-engaged and participatory research approaches, and works in closely with partners in forensic nursing, policing, and advocacy.
