Scholarships and awards currently available to arts majors:

  • Herzbrun Art Scholarship
    The Herzbrun Art Scholarship is used to provide scholarships for financial need students selected by the Department of Art.
  • Julia Pollock Cohen Endowed Scholarship
    The purpose of the Julia Pollock Cohen Fund is to provide scholarship support to students pursuing a degree in fine arts with a preference for a student having a concentration in sculpture.
  • Elizabeth J. Maiden Memorial Scholarship
    The Elizabeth J. Maiden Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a student studying in the Department of Art at American University
  • Allan Carney Memorial Scholarship
    The Allan Carney Memorial Scholarship is supports students majoring in Fine Arts who exhibit financial need and show academic excellence.
  • Serge Sacknoff Memorial
    The Serge Sacknoff Memorial Sculpture Fund Scholarship is to be awarded annually to one or more outstanding students in the sculpture program at the American University.
  • Alma Thomas Award
    The Alma Thomas Award is an annual award in the Department of Art.
  • Maurer-Leonard Memorial
    This award is given annually to an undergraduate student in fine arts whose creative work is considered by the faculty of the Art Department to be outstanding.
  • Dean & Rosina Carter Scholarship
    The Dean & Rosina Carter Scholarship is an annual award to an aspiring sculptor entering his or her senior year, who is enrolled in the University’s College of Arts and Sciences. The funds awarded to the student must be used toward the costs of tuition at the University.
