Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum
The Smithsonian Anacostia Community Museum is a community museum in the Anacostia neighborhood of Washington, D.C. It is one of twenty museums under the umbrella of the Smithsonian Institution and was the first federally funded community museum in the United States.
Next Step Charter School
Next Step Charter School’s mission is to provide students who face extraordinary challenges and who are not supported in traditional high schools with the opportunity to continue their education. Originally chartered in 1996 by the Board of Education and unanimously granted a renewed charter in April 2011 by the DC Public Charter School Board of Trustees, we are the oldest public charter school in DC.
Academy of Hope Adult Charter School
Academy of Hope Adult Charter School’s mission is to provide high-quality adult education and services that change lives and improve our communities. Academy of Hope was founded in 1985 by two teachers who believed that education could empower those most marginalized in Washington, D.C. It was clear that people trapped in the cycle of poverty lacked basic reading, writing and math skills, and they needed to acquire jobs that paid living wages.
Street Sense Media
Street Sense Media’s mission is to end homelessness in the Washington, D.C. area by empowering people in need with the skills, tools, and confidence to succeed. Together we use a range of media platforms to raise awareness and spotlight solutions to homelessness in our community.
DC127
DC127 is an initiative of Washington, DC churches focused on working together to ensure the success of every child in foster care and those at risk of entering the child welfare system. As an initiative, we believe we have a responsibility and call to mobilize our communities and congregations to care for some of the most vulnerable children in our city.
Miriam’s Kitchen
Miriam’s Kitchen works to end chronic homelessness in Washington, DC by providing nutritious daily meals, health services, housing support, and street outreach. Their holistic, person-centered approach focuses on building trust, improving health outcomes, and helping individuals move from crisis to stability. By addressing immediate needs while advocating for long-term solutions, Miriam’s Kitchen helps ensure homelessness is rare, brief, and non-recurring.
LAYC Career Academy
LAYC Career Academy is a tuition-free adult charter school in Washington, DC serving students ages 16–24 who are reengaging with education. The Academy offers high school credentialing, GED preparation, career and technical education, and English language learning, paired with individualized coaching and wraparound support. Its mission-centered model empowers young people to build confidence, gain credentials, and launch meaningful careers.

The Bridges Center
The Bridges Center supports adults with intellectual disabilities by providing community-based services that promote independence, dignity, and self-sufficiency. Programs include supported employment, job readiness, training, companion services, and day habilitation. Through individualized support and inclusive programming, The Bridges Center helps participants build meaningful lives within their communities.

Martha's Table
Martha’s Table strengthens families in Washington, DC by increasing access to quality education, healthy food, and essential clothing. Their programs support children from early childhood through adolescence while also addressing caregivers’ needs. By removing systemic barriers and meeting families where they are, Martha’s Table creates pathways for long-term stability and opportunity.

L'Arche Greater Washington, D.C.
L’Arche Greater Washington, D.C. builds inclusive communities where people with and without intellectual disabilities share life together. Rooted in mutual relationships and belonging, L’Arche creates lifelong homes and community spaces that honor the dignity, gifts, and leadership of every person. Their work challenges societal assumptions about ability and invites deeper human connection.
Higher Achievement
Higher Achievement partners with middle school students and mentors to close opportunity gaps through academic enrichment, social-emotional learning, and leadership development. Scholars gain confidence, critical skills, and a strong sense of belonging that supports success in high school and beyond. The program emphasizes community, high expectations, and student voice.
DC Scores
DC SCORES empowers youth by integrating soccer, poetry, and service learning into after-school programming. Students develop physical fitness, literacy, creativity, and leadership skills while building strong connections to their peers and communities. The program uses teamwork and self-expression as tools for confidence and growth.
