Housing Options

The Washington Semester Program offers flexible housing options. Most students choose TurnKey Housing apartments, though on-campus housing through American University is also available. Students may also choose to arrange their own housing independently of WSP or the university.

TurnKey Housing partners with WSP to offer urban apartment living, conveniently located close to Metro stations and other public transportation. All apartments come fully furnished and are move-in ready. All you need to bring is your suitcase! A complete list of furnishings and housewares can be found here.  

Turnkey amenities include:
 

  • 24-hour concierge desk service for extra security 

  • In-unit washer and dryer 

  • Exercise room, rooftop patio, and shared workspaces 

  • Utilities and Wi-Fi at no extra cost 

  • Controlled access entry

  • Convenient access to public transportation, grocery stores, and restaurants/cafes

American University Campus Housing 

AU Housing is available for students who wish to live on campus. Students who apply will receive a room assignment, with preferences considered and accommodated based on availability.


Themed communities are available for students interested in living in campus housing shared with members of specific communities

  • Eagles in CommUNITY Floor: an affirming residential community that enhances the intellectual and cultural environment of campus by exploring historical and contemporary experiences of the LGBTQIA+ community. 
  • Sankofa House: a vibrant themed community for students interested in exploring Black culture, history, identity, and the intellectual traditions of the African diaspora. 
  • First Flight Floor: a supportive and enriching residential community designed for students who are the first in their families to pursue higher education.

Various housing options are available:

  • Apartment style, suite style, and traditional dormitory style housing options
  • Single, double, and triple occupancy rooms

AU campus housing costs are paid directly to AU in the student portal. Students receiving aid or the housing scholarship can apply it to AU housing costs.

WSP students living on campus are required to have at a minimum, the Standard Meal Plan. The meal plan comprises of four components: Meal Swipes, Retail Meal Exchanges, Dining Dollars and Guest Meals.

Students can submit medical accommodation requests through the ASAC office for an accommodation for AU campus housing.
